The Prayer

Begin your Pause by saying the Sabbath Prayer, signaling to God that you’re ready to start your time together. We suggest committing it to memory so you can recite it wherever you are when the Sabbath begins. Share it with your family so you can begin the Sabbath together. It was written with this purpose in mind - simple enough for a child while meaningful enough for adults.

If you speak a language other than English, feel free to translate the prayer and share it with other Pausers around the globe. Soon there will be an option to share your non-English version online and we will place it here on the website.

iPause

Heavenly Father, Creator

As You did on the seventh day, at the beginning of the earth

I will also take time to rest, and lay aside my work

I seek to delight in your Sabbath, and turn my thoughts aside

I especially ask that You help the cares of this week escape my mind

I call Your holy day honorable, and my own ways I will not seek

I will not pursue my own pleasure, and my own words I will not speak

Whisper gently  in my ears, and help me be sensitive to You this day

It’s all about You, Lord. Help me remember this. In Jesus’  name we pray,

Amen.
